Recently, the DVD movie of "The Golden Compass" is released.

Then this time, I introduce you the 2nd book of "His Dark Materials" series, "The Subtle Knife".
This series become very interesting from Book 2!!
Do not miss Book 2 and 3!!

"His Dark Materials " consists of following 3 parts.
　　book 1 "The Golden Compass"
　　book 2 "The Subtle Knife"　
　　book3 "The Amber Spyglass"

but, there is a story AFTER book 3.
You say what is that?

The spoken English is British English, it's the same as the previous audiobook(the golden compass).
Around 20 casts are played by different people.
It is rare chance to be able to listen to British English of so many people at a time more than 9 hours, so this is also good to learn British English.

The Narrator is Philip Pullman who is the author of the book.
He plays it very good, of course he is the author, you will be impressed by his narration.
The audiobook is 9hours 2 mins long, but you will not feel the audiobook is such long one.

Other casts are also remarkable, you can imagine the scenary in your head just by listening the audio.
Even if you became to know His Dark Materials series from the movie, you can enjoy the book2 audiobook like the subsequent movie.


Lyra went to another world from the great opening which Lord Asriel opened on the sacrifice of Roger.
Where did she go?
Before that, the book 2 begins with a story of a boy called Will.
He lives in Oxford of the world of us.
He accidentially kill a person, and while he is running away he found a window to another world and met Lyra there.

They are involved in many accidents and destined to travel together.

When Lyra got to Will's Osford to know about the 'Dust', she is traced by some people.
While she is running away from them, she get her Aletheometer stolen!!

They go and meet the man who stole the Aletheometer, and the man offer a bargain.
That is he will return Aletheometer if Will and Lyra bring something to him.
They had no choice other than to accept the offer, the thing is The Subtle Knife.

What is the Subtle knife?
Why Will and Lyra met in that particular world, what is the cause of the many abnormal incidents.
The Subtle Knife is the key to solve them.

The story greatly expands from the Book 2 "The Subtle Knife".
From here, the story become more and more interesting.
If you see or listen to the Book 1 The Golden Compass, you should never miss book 2 and 3.
